This Sunday, we will honor three incredible seniors who have made an everlasting impact on the Syracuse Women's Club Hockey program. As we celebrate their achievements, we also reflect on the tremendous growth of the team thanks to their dedication and leadership. Join us at the Tennity Ice Pavilion for our Senior Game this Sunday at 1PM, where we’ll show our appreciation for their hard work, passion, and commitment to the sport. The ceremony will precede the final home game of the season as Syracuse takes on the Syracuse Blades, and you won’t want to miss it!
Amanda Wheeler #7 – Co-President & Environmental Science Major
Amanda Wheeler, a native of Rochester, Massachusetts, has been a pivotal force in the growth of the Syracuse Women's Club Hockey team. Starting as vice president in Fall 2022, she quickly took on the role of President by January 2023, when she became the team’s leader as a sophomore. Since then, Amanda has spearheaded countless initiatives, making monumental strides for the program.
Under her leadership, the team has grown dramatically—from a small group of only seven attendees at the interest meeting in her freshman year to a full roster of talented players today. Her efforts have paved the way for the team to host tryouts over the last two years, which is a testament to the increased interest and success of the program. The team now competes in the AAU with an undefeated record and is set to make a run for the national championship in just a few weeks. Amanda’s contributions have set the stage for the program’s future, and her legacy will forever be a part of the team’s success.
Jordan Boron #28 – Sport Management Major
Hailing from Mount Airy, Maryland, Jordan Boron has been an indispensable member of the team’s defense since joining in Fall 2022. A Sport Management major, Jordan’s athleticism, skill, and consistency have made her a key contributor on the blueline. Her presence has helped solidify the team’s defensive structure and allowed the squad to reach new heights. With Jordan’s contributions, the team has become a more formidable force, and her hard work and commitment have earned her a place as one of the standout players in the program.
Sophie Znamierowski #29 – Neuroscience & Biology Major
Sophie Znamierowski, a talented neuroscience and biology major from North Andover, Massachusetts, has become an essential part of the team since she first joined in Spring 2023. After a brief departure, we are thrilled to have Sophie back for her senior spring in Spring 2025. Sophie’s return brings incredible depth to the team's wingers, and her presence on and off the ice has had a positive impact on her teammates. Her dedication, energy, and leadership qualities have made her an asset to the program, and we’re so grateful for her continued contributions.
Livestream Coordinator Bella Austin
A big thank you to Bella Austin for her incredible contributions to our program. Bella played for our team during her freshman and sophomore years, showing exceptional skill and dedication. Now, as our livestream coordinator, she continues to make a huge impact, ensuring smooth broadcasts and keeping fans connected. We are so grateful for her hard work, passion, and unwavering support—Bella, you truly make a difference, and we're lucky to have you on the team!
Senior Day – A Celebration of Excellence
Our Senior Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for the tireless work, leadership, and perseverance of Amanda, Jordan, and Sophie. These seniors have left an indelible mark on the team, and we want to recognize their efforts as they play their final home game at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
Join us this today, February 16th, at 1:00PM for the Senior Game, where we’ll honor our graduating players with a ceremony before the team takes on the Blades. It’s the last chance to see these incredible seniors play at home, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate their achievements than by filling the stands with fans, friends, and family.
Let’s come together and show our appreciation for Amanda, Jordan, and Sophie as they embark on their next chapter. We hope to see you there!
